FIRE Station Fun – Possibilities

I am now closing in on my first full YEAR of early retirement.  I will hit the anniversary mark on April Fool’s Day this year.  It has been a terrific rotation around the sun and I haven’t regretted it at all.

Not surprisingly, everyone is asking me “are you doing all of those things that you thought you would?”  I wrote this post last March that talked about all of the things I hoped to do – organized around a ‘Life Wheel’ of activities.

I gave one quick update after about 50 days being retired – but will give a detailed update over the next couple weeks, starting on Monday.  If you haven’t heard it already, early retirement is less about MONEY and more about OPTIONS of what you want to do with your life.  You definitely want to retire “to” things, not “from” things!

  1. I can’t wait for your update on Monday!! I think a lot about that “first year” (starts June 2018), and realize that the focus on “To” trumps the financial issues once you finally cross that retirement line. I look forward to learning from you, as one who has walked the trail ahead of me! Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks so much! Your FIRE escape date will sneak up on you a lot faster than you think. Savor your last year – a lot is in store, but you’ll never walk this way again!

  2. I really like your quote. If you are in a good place financially, then giving up your time and energy for more money isnt necessarily better. Especially as you get older, time and options become more important.

    1. Everything I hoped for and infinitely more! Not quite as young as you were, but really enjoying it.
