The weather finally turned nice in Minnesota and I’ve been out having fun all week.
On Monday I played pickleball in our city league, Tuesday & Wednesday were bike rides (46 mile total), Thursday was 3-sets of tennis, and today I’ll be out golfing. Throw in walking the dog & mowing the grass and it’s been quite a physical gauntlet.
What’s great about this week is I feel like I’ve got my sports mojo back. I did it all this week without getting injured / run down.
It’s taken a full year and a lot of physical therapy to get my Achilles injury healed. That killed a lot of activity last year. The summer before was largely lost due to back pain. I’m maybe not 100%, but definitely back in the 90%s.
Activities like these are critical in early retirement. When we retire, our job becomes taking care of our health and sports activities are a great way to ensure we stay fit. Now I just need to make sure not to overdo it. I’m learning to “not push it” on any given day.
What sports activities are you staying involved in? Any frustrating injuries?
