Some people run triathlons, climb the world’s great peaks, or cycle across the country to raise money for charity. Me? No, I do dumb stuff no one else cares about.
Yesterday, I did a dumb Disney thing. I slept in until about 10am and then decided I should go hop through all 4 parks at Walt Disney World in one day.
Why? Because it’s there, of course. Previously, I’ve done “bell-to-bell” (open to close) challenges at our State Fair and Mall of America. Last year, I hiked through 8 State Parks (25+ miles) in 3 days. I guess I enjoy these kind of quirky adventures … and capturing the day in photos.
For this, I had seen a few people post in a Facebook Disney group that they had done all 4 parks in one day and it sounded intriguing. A silly feat of endurance is right up my alley.
I decided to one-up the others I had seen by not just going through the entry gate at all 4 parks and quickly leaving, but instead walking through every “land” in every park … 24 lands in all. Having a treat in each park, going on rides in each park, and seeking out live entertainment.

🐯 I zipped over to Animal Kingdom at about noon. A late start, but a nice sunny day – and not too hot. I had a pineapple Dole Whip for breakfast here and got up close with a tiger on the walk-through safari trail. I rotated the park from left to right, stopped to listen to some music a couple times, and was on my way out in about an hour.

🏰 By 1pm, I had taken the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. I had parked my Jeep and tried to rely on as much Disney transportation as possible. At MK, I was greeted by the Dapper Dan Barbershop Quartet on Main Street. Going clockwise through the 6 lands, I stopped for classic Haunted Mansion, a spin through Carousel of Progress (from the 1964 World’s Fair), and enjoyed this ginormous cinnamon roll as a late breakfast.

🎥 After a stop to watch a bit of The Masters golf tournament on TV, it was onto Disney Hollywood Studios. Here I realized this whole 4 park expedition was taking longer than I expected. Still, I zipped into Star Wars / Star Tours, met up with my man Olaf, and feasted on these “totchos”. I hadn’t had this mash-up of tater tots & nachos toppings before, but I think I want it every night for dinner from now on.

🌍 With sunset just 1 hour away, I grabbed the Disney Skyliner gondola over to my favorite park, EPCOT. I was chasing the sun at this point, but still took the time to soak in the amazing blooms of the Spring Flower Show. It’s incredible. Country singer Jo Dee Messina was performing in the amphitheater and there were special food booths throughout the park. I had a Mexican Street Corn-On-The-Cob with butter, queso, and special seasonings.

🧨 By the time I got back to my resort (I stayed at the Swan 🦢 & Dolphin 🐬 for the night), I was able to have celebratory beer in the fantastic lobby and then enjoy the EPCOT fireworks from my room balcony. It was a great finish to the day. All together, I walked 12 miles and 30,050 steps.
We’re heading back to Minnesota for Easter this week, so my silly feat of endurance was a nice way to cap our 4 months snowbirding through the Winter. Yesterday’s expedition through Disney World is just another example of the goofy things you can do in early retirement. And, I can sleep in on Monday morning.
