Many people act as if “we didn’t know much during the start of the CV19 pandemic as justification for the lockdowns, but we did!
We knew just a few weeks into the lockdowns / school closings that it was the wrong approach, as it was already shown to be ineffective in stopping the spread of the deadly virus.
The WHO started telling countries this in a CV19 strategy paper on 4/14/20. It was based on the early success of Sweden’s “no lockdown” approach. The WHO literally told countries to lift the lockdowns and with that “Sweden was a model for the world.”
Neighboring WI and highly visible FL lifted their restrictions in May. I was drinking beer at Dick’s in Hudson on 5/12/20.
As for schools, the EU and most private schools didn’t close their schools except for a few weeks in March-May 2020.
