Need My Day Off …

We’re a couple weeks into Glorious Summer and I’m already feeling worn out! It’s been a busy week with friends, family, lunches, sports, and other activities.

It’s Friday morning and I just told my wife that I’m taking the day off. Before we get into the business of the weekend (with very nice looking weather), it’s time to take a break!

I used to keep Wednesdays open for a respite in the middle of the week, but this year I’ve filled it up with a pickleball league. That means I’ve been going full-out since last Sunday – everyday.

The week started with yard work (650 exercise calories), Monday had pickle ball (800 calories), Tuesday was biking (1150 calories), Wednesday pickle ball again (1500 calories), and Thursday tennis (910 calories). That’s an amazing 5,000 calories in the last 5 days.

This weekend there is dinner with friends (tonight), an air show / or JEEP event on Saturday, and Activate and the F1 Movie on Sunday. I better relax now, while I can. Fortunately, like most of my early retirement schedule, these activities are all OPTIONAL and FUN!

Do keep a “day off” during the week?

  1. Yes, I take days off from exercise, working around the house and recreational activities. However, I never take a day off from going on a hike with my personal trainer dogs. They are so appreciative and most of the time the weather is good, so no reason to take a day off.
