Snowbird ROI

When we’re at our vacation place in Florida, it’s hard not to think about what the weather is like back home in Minnesota. Our son is there, our families are there, and our friends are there.

Right now, the weather in MN is brutal.

This morning will be -22° F. The afternoon high will be -10° F. Saturday will be only a little bit better. It will take a full 48+ hours to get to 1 thin degree of above-zero temperatures on Sunday.

By contrast, Florida is beautiful – sunny and in the 80s all weekend.

The forecasted 91° difference between the two places this afternoon is the biggest gap that I can recall in the 7 years we’ve been getting away to Florida. it’s regularly 40-50 degrees different, but this is about DOUBLE that.

I usually use 40 degrees as my unofficial “Snowbird ROI” margin. If it’s at least 40 degrees warmer, I feel good about how expensive it is to have two places. We’ve never been colder in FL than MN that I recall, but I’m sure we’ve been within 10-20 degrees a few times.

We have 6 groups of visitors staying with us over the next 10 weeks. Most of them are from MN. Hopefully they will also get a good return on their vacation weather!

Have A GREAT WEEKEND …!
