I like this giant sundial that anchors a downtown shopping & entertainment plaza in St. Petersburg, Florida – “The Sunshine City”.
Around the base are the words, “Use well these few but ever fleeting hours” which strikes me as pretty good advice, and maybe a good personal motto.
Recently, someone asked about ‘personal mottos’ in a forum post online and these were the ones that people responded the most to ….
◦ “Choose to be happy”
◦ “Live everyday like it may be your last, but always plan for tomorrow”
◦ “Always leave a place better than you found it”
◦ “Life is good, even when it ain’t”
◦ “While some dream of accomplishment others stay awake and work hard at it.”
◦ “Laughter is the best medicine”
◦ “Small sacrifices = big rewards”
◦ “Have fun. Be safe. Don’t get caught.”
◦ “Be the change you want to be in the world”
◦ “A life lived in fear is not a life well lived.”
◦ “Treat others how you want to be treated”
◦ “Never act your age”
◦ “Don’t let the world change your smile let your smile change the world”
◦ “What one thinks about, comes about”
◦ “Live the life you love, love the life you live”
◦ “If you are the smartest person in the room, find a better room”
◦ “People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan”
◦ “Be the reason someone smiles today”
What are some of your personal mottos? What phrases inspire you to make the most of your ‘fleeting hours’?
