Investor Certainty

Tomorrow is election day in the United States, and it looks like we will get the ideal investor outcome. Gridlock!

After two years of Republican control, it looks like Congress will swing to the Democratic Party. That means very little will get done with Trump vetoing any legislation that squeaks through. The Democratic control will not strong enough to override that.

Investors love certainty, and the gridlock will ensure that no crazy proposals get passed. (Of course, I also thought that 8 years ago, and then the mid-term Congress confronted the CV19 pandemic with a basketful of dubiously bipartisan spending).

Hopefully, this next two years will slide by with no new taxes, no major “emergency” stimulus, and no ugly foreign interventions. I expect we’ll just get two years of ugly Congressional “investigations” as the two major parties gear up for the big prize in 2028.

What action (if any) do you expect to impact your finances in the next two years?
