The whole Fire Station Family is out spending our money on good times this week. We are on our summer vacation (to Tokyo & Kyoto) and not thinking this trip is money spent foolishly at all. We each have our priorities that we budget for and travel is a big one for us. Check out this post from last year on our early retirement travel / spending framework.

Not foolish at all, you earned it and now you get to enjoy it! Have a great trip and I look forward to hearing more about it.

Great trip so far. Just finished up 6 nights in Tokyo. Wrote a post about changing Japanese views of retirement for tomorrow.

They say I spend my money on women and wine
But I couldn’t tell you where I spent last night
I’m really sorry about the shape I’m in
I just like my fun every now and then

Enjoy your Japanese adventure! I’ve been to Osaka, where I felt very tall.

Enjoy the trip! We’ve been there last year and – if you need – we have a great list of suggested things to do and place to visit!
Rule of thumb in Kyoto: the more the temple/shrine costs the less it’s valuable! Corollary: the free ones are the best. Don’t miss Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka e Kiyomizu-dera!

That is a funny rule of thumb! We are heading to Kyoto right now – enjoying the view from the high-speed Shinkasen train from Tokyo.
