Just in time for Spring Garage Sales, it’s “Collectibles Week” here at the Fire Station. I’ve been looking around our house and trying to think of which things I should keep collecting, and which I should find some new homes for.
Today, I am including a list of the “Top 20” collectibles that are INCREASING in value. On Friday, I will publish the list of the “Top 20” collectibles that are DECREASING in value right now.
Our biggest collection is LEGO sets. We have some from when I was a kid back in the 1970s and every decade since then. Vintage Toys (#13) are solid collectibles right now and LEGO especially so.
We probably have 75 LEGO sets fully built & displayed in our lower level. We even have a few that we’ve kept new in boxes as an experiment in LEGO investing. Generally, LEGO sets have gone up in value pretty well, but we could probably thin out a few.
Among the other “Top 20” collectibles growing in value that we have are Vinyl Records (#3), Sports Cards (#6) and Autographed Baseballs (#11). I am definitely going to keep my autographed baseball collection, but I think it’s time to get rid of a lot of my sports cards and vinyl records. I was Music Director of our college radio station and have a couple crates of vinyl to sell. I don’t think my son has much interest in them, but I will check with him.
